My Rage
My rage has been out the cage
I feel I’ve suffered a lifetime of unspoken crimes
My mind, body & soul battered, doing unfair time
When you’re your leading advocate, you become a fierce warrior
You gain the ability to see in the dark
To witness things from afar
To gaze at a star
I’ve crawled, gnarled, and picked myself up out of wastelands
Getting caught in an abyssmal swamp
Luckily, I know how to swim
I swim
I feel
I flow
I heal
I said to myself earlier, “I love you, Amanda. I’M here for you now.”
I. AM. MY. OWN. SAFE. HOME.
I am a warrior through and through
When you see me and think what you do
Just know you don’t have a clue
I know what’s fully true
I don’t like war
I prefer to make love
But you’re a fucken fool if you think I only carry the innocence of a dove
