YouTube Yoga at Home

There can be occasions in one’s life where they find themselves stuck at home. Sometimes you may not have the funds necessary to pay for a class, or your studio or gym is closed because of a local pandemic. I’d like to speak about YouTube yoga at home, wooo!

Roll out your mat kids and get wild with some good old fashioned Youtube yoga at home, pandemic style.

It’s also beneficial to do YouTube yoga at home any other time and not solely during a global health crisis.

YouTube is king when it comes to mastering the art of practicing oms and namastes in the comfort of your own space. I’ll share my favorite YouTube yoga at home instructors and their style of teaching to shed some light on the variety and availability out there through a vast number of free classes.

1. Five Parks Yoga With Erin Sampson

Five Parks Yoga is perfect for you if you want an athletic experience during yoga. When I turn on Erin, I expect to be challenged unless it’s one of her gentler videos, which she does have as well. She has yoga classes with weights, deep stretch classes, and plenty of vigorous flows where you will break a sweat while becoming stronger at the same time. She is an excellent instructor, gives clear and concise instructions, and I always feel very accomplished after her classes.

If you enjoy invigorating flows in which you will sweat, build, and maintain your muscles, Five Parks Yoga is right up your alley. At the end of each practice, Erin says, “as you go forward, may you maintain peace in your thoughts, peace in your words, and peace in your heart.” I’ve grown to love that saying very much.

I strive to take that mentality with me off the mat every day. A lot of her videos shot in Costa Rica also come with kamikaze bugs that she handles like the champ she is along with the joyous sounds of wildlife in the background. She also hosts retreats in Costa Rica (really hope to attend sometime). Her videos range from fifteen-minute flows to an hour.

2. Boho Beautiful

Boho Beautiful is Juliana & Mark’s channel. Juliana instructs and Mark does behind the scenes work and teaches as well. They recently welcomed a beautiful baby boy to their tribe. Their late and great dog Prince makes cameos in some of the videos. I always enjoy seeing him. R.I.P. Prince.

Boho Beautiful offers a tranquil yet demanding approach perfect for yoga. They’ve traveled to many countries so most of the videos include gorgeous backdrops of those trips. Juliana’s voice is extra calming, and she has a very gentle vibe about her that always relaxes me when I’m not panting because of what she’s asking me to do.

Pilates is thrown into the mix as well. The channel also offers Yin Yoga classes and guided meditation videos which I adore. In addition, there are full-body workouts that usually kick my butt and leave me sweating. If they tell you to grab a water, you should listen.

Give Boho Beautiful a shot and experience the beautifully serene yet athletic vibe that Juliana and Mark bring to the table. The videos range anywhere from quick five minute flows to an hour.

3. Yoga With Kassandra

Kassandra’s channel serves up a lovely combination of gentle or energizing flows. I completed an iron yoga with weights video of hers the other day, and it left me perspiring. Before that video, I’ve been delighting in her ten minute morning flow videos, which I love practicing after lying in bed all night.

They’re a great kickstart to the day before I get some coffee in my system. She also has a yin yoga with affirmations series that I’ve thoroughly treasured. I’ve also seen a few adorable cat sightings sprinkled throughout her collection.

*Adorable Cat Alert*

In the yin yoga with affirmations series, you hold a pose for a longer than the average amount of time (about two minutes or so) while repeating an affirmation (I am worthy of love and joy, I love and accept myself exactly as I am, etc.) She has different topics such as yin yoga with affirmations for success, self-love and healing, and inner peace and guidance to name a few.

All of her classes allow me to experience the peace I desire. Her videos range from ten minutes to an hour.

I recently completed her 30-day morning yoga movement challenge and it was lovely. All the videos in this challenge are ten minutes with some of them requiring blocks. She’s reminded me that it’s much better to practice for ten minutes every day rather than an hour once a week.

4. Cole Chance Yoga

Cole is a breath of fresh air. She is open and magnetic with a very soft and fluid style. She encourages any variations of movement that feel good to you no matter how strange they may look to an outsider.

Cole is honest and aware that not all of us feel like showing up to our mat even though we know how good it can make us feel. I am fond of her encouragement of non-rigid movements and always honoring what feels best for yourself.

She also has videos where she speaks about her experience with sobriety. She hosts retreats, which hopefully I can get to someday. Cole is a laidback and unique instructor.

Try some of her videos if you need some high-quality yoga. Her high energy flows are just as enjoyable as her soft side for the days that I need to take it easy. Her videos range from ten minutes to an hour.

Although the above passages are female-dominated (what can I say, those ladies slay the yoga game), there are also two gentlemen I’ve found who also kill it!

5. Yoga With Chaz

Chaz allowed me to do some beautiful asanas with some difficulty thrown in. I specifically remember that I got in some intense but epic stretches. I want to check out more of his videos because I enjoyed his teaching.

My lower body was really sore this past Saturday and I put on Chaz. It was a Yoga for Restless Legs video. It was a lovely stretch with clear and helpful instructions from a calming instructor. Thanks Chaz!

6. Yoga With Tim

Tim has made me literally laugh out loud during one of his classes. It was a comment about the hot warning on McDonald’s coffee and keeping your back flat. I found that pretty funny, and I always appreciate a good laugh on or off the matt. He doesn’t crack jokes in every video but I wanted to mention that.

He offers a particularly taxing class that I remember attending a while back. I barely made it through, but I was ready to give it a whirl and fully witnessed this man’s yoga prowess.

I put on one of Tim’s classes on a recent Saturday morning and he was so sneaky because it was one of those gentle but pretty hard flows. Give Tim a shot. You’ll definitely get a good flow in!

I was swept away by the ladies, my bad Tim & Chaz; you are just as awesome!

Sooo, what are you waiting for? I encourage you to get your YouTube yoga on in the privacy of your pad, where you can rock your favorite pair of leggings with the hole in the crotch (and questionable hygiene). I never had a pair of leggings that I kept wearing after holes formed by the way.

YouTube Yoga at home for the win!

I sincerely hope one or more of these kicka$$ yoga teachers will speak to you, get you moving, and further along in your yoga space travels!
